I became involved in the pro-life movement as a college student and my passion for the work has only increased since that time. I was called to join SPCC’s Board of Directors in 2014 and became the interim Center Director in August, 2018. In March, 2019 I was promoted to Executive Director. I love being able to use my passion for life as well as my business, communication, and other skills to make a real and tangible difference in the community. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my husband and two daughters. I am also excited about welcoming a new addition to our family this fall.
Dottie PowersCenter Director
I first came to Salem Pregnancy in 2006 as an “accidental” client. I applied to volunteer to help women choose life, but I first had to deal with the debilitating pain of two past abortions in my own life. God used Salem to help me heal to a place of wholeness through their post-abortion healing Bible study, and only then could I do what God was calling me to do at this wonderful organization. God has continued to use Salem through the years to further my healing and deepen my relationship with Christ.
I began volunteering for SPCC in 2007 as a Client Advocate and Teens 4 Change speaker. In 2010 I accepted a full-time position as Teens 4 Change Director. I have held a few different positions here through the years, and with each one, I have considered it a calling, not a job. My favorite aspect of my journey here is working as a spiritual life coach and mentor to our Hope moms and dads. I enjoy helping them envision a new life, break generational cycles, and live out the life God created them to live. I love representing an organization that genuinely empowers the women and families of our community with Godly truth. We meet our clients where they are, on the way to where they are going, just as Jesus does for each of us.
Outside of SPCC, my other passion is fitness and nutrition coaching with my husband. We also enjoy family time, working out, cooking, reading, watching documentaries, traveling, playing with our fur babies, and being in the great outdoors.
Tatnai VielzaSpanish Services Coordinator
I am the Spanish Services Coordinator, and I am the primary contact for all Spanish speaking. My main responsibilities are to coordinate all Spanish speaking services like pregnancy test and resource appointments (client advocacy), mentoring, parenting/life skills education, and outreach to Hispanic community regarding services and volunteer opportunities. In my spare time you will find me reading, watching movies, listening to music or signing.
Patsy ChesnutVolunteer Coordinator
As the Volunteer Coordinator at SPCC, I schedule hours each month for volunteers to fill all kinds of roles at the Center. These roles include serving as advocates, nurses, shopping assistants, donation sorters and medical presenters who speak in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system. I also see clients, do follow-up calls and write stories for our newsletter.
I started working at SPCC in November of 2019. With my background in Psychology, and even more importantly, my Christian faith, it has always been my desire to reach out to people in need. In addition to that, I enjoy encouraging and motivating volunteers to work together as a team to serve the women in our community who face unplanned pregnancies.
Outside of SPCC, I lead a campus ministry called “Bridges” for the Wake Forest International students and also serve as a worship/praise team leader in my church. My husband David and I are a happily blended family with 4 adult children between us. We hike whenever we get the chance and love gardening!
Daniella SmithClient Services Assistant
I started my wild adventure at SPCC in December 2019. The Lord led me here when I least expected it. I have found a true calling here. I have been embraced by the staff, volunteers and clients who touch my heart everyday. I find great pleasure in being part of an organization that brings encouragement, guidance and love to women who need it most. I am constantly overjoyed with how much I learn and grow in this place of devotion.
I am the face, receptionist and right hand to the client services director of SPCC. I schedule all appointments, do client advocacy, oversee the shopping rooms and make sure things on the client side are running smoothly.
When I’m not in the office, you will find me hanging out with my friends, thrifting my latest goodwill find, painting my next masterpiece, or traveling to my hearts content.
Amy TowClinic Manager
I have been a nurse volunteer at SPCC for about 8 years after hearing about volunteer opportunites at my church. Last year I trained to do limited OB ultrasounds and will be working at SPCC every Thursday. I enjoy being able to show mothers the ultrasound images of their babies and see their reaction to seeing the heart beat for the 1st time.
In my free time I enjoy reading and spending time with my husband and 2 teenage sons.
Debbie BohlmannDevelopment Coordinator
I started as a temporary Development Associate in January of 2019 and am still here. Expanding our ministry is my passion and getting the community involved is my goal. I spend my time calling supporters, getting SPCC into community events and planning Community Day and Benefit Dinner. Spending time with family and friends is my favorite thing to do away from work and at the beach is even better!
Malissa CottrellMarketing Administrator
I came on staff at SPCC in December 2018. It has been the perfect fit for me. I do everything from donor management to social media to keeping the center stocked with everything we need. I love our team and we all work together exceptionally well. Working at SPCC has been a blessing in my life and I thank God that He opened the door for me to be here.
Outside of work, I love photography and scrapbooking, hanging out with friends and family and traveling.
